BetMGM to Boost Responsible Betting Ads at NFL Stadiums
September marks Responsible Gaming Education Month, and BetMGM along with 50% stakeholder MGM Resorts International are once again collaborating with the American Gaming Association (AGA) to advance responsible betting practices.
The large casino and online sportsbook operator plans to enhance the visibility of the GameSense platform at nine NFL stadiums located in regions where sports betting is permitted. GameSense was created by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) and was initially licensed to MGM in 2017.
"The program focuses on positive, transparent, and proactive engagements with guests and customers about how to gamble responsibly. With this development, GameSense marketing will appear more often and in more prominent venue locations during each game,” according to a statement.
Last year, BetMGM and MGM were among the initial gaming operators to actively encourage responsible betting practices at NFL stadiums. The remaining portion of BetMGM is owned by Entain Plc, which is based in the UK.
BetMGM's Initiative for Responsible Wagering Practical
The strategy by BetMGM and MGM to enhance recognition and visibility of GameSense at NFL stadiums is sensible on several levels. The 2024 season kicks off on Thursday, and it’s anticipated that bettors will place higher wagers than ever on NFL games this year.
The announcement from the gaming companies came around a week following the NFL's statement about extending its partnership with the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG), which featured a $6.4 million donation to the organization. Moreover, the league has recently made efforts to clarify betting regulations for players and league and team staff to prevent betting scandals.
NFL players are forbidden from betting on any NFL events and they cannot use intermediaries to place bets for them. They are also prohibited from gambling in any capacity at team venues, during travel for away games, or at a team hotel.
In accordance with Responsible Gaming Education Month, "MGM Resorts is revealing a $440,000 donation to support responsible gaming research via the International Center for Responsible Gaming and Kindbridge Research Institute."
Diverse Locations to View Responsible Gambling Advertisements
The venues that will witness a rise in responsible betting advertisements this year include Acrisure Stadium, Allegiant Stadium, Empower Field at Mile High, Ford Field, GHEA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, M&T Bank Stadium, MetLife Stadium, Nissan Stadium, and State Farm Stadium.
These are the residences of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Las Vegas Raiders, Denver Broncos, Detroit Lions, Kansas City Chiefs, Baltimore Ravens, New York Giants, New York Jets, Tennessee Titans, and Arizona Cardinals. Online sports betting is permitted in all states where those stadiums are situated, except for the home ground of the Chiefs.
“BetMGM will also add to its catalogue of advertisements in the coming months that highlight its comprehensive responsible gaming resources. The spots will feature brand ambassadors sharing engaging messaging, similar to its highly regarded responsible gaming commercial featuring NHL MVP Connor McDavid,” concluded the gaming company.
